How to join the staff?

When do promotions take place?

It happens sometimes that a staff member retires or is demoted for long absence and/or major rule breaking. In this case, some spots may become available. Also, it can happen that we need more staff to handle the ever increasing number of members and posts. Promotions generally take place at these special periods.

What positions are available for members?

In most of the case, only support staff and forum assistant positions can be accessed directly from members. The higher staff can be reached by climbing the ladder once you joined you staff.

Requirements

So how to become a support staff or a forum assistant? The following is a general requirement list, which may not be necessary not sufficient. We are not machines, we judge with our feeling and base our judgement on what we observe on the forum. Ultimately it is the judgement and decision from the higher staff that will decide whether you can or not be promoted.

* Reporting a lot of rule breaking posts (please read the report FAQ to make sure you make the 'good' reports).
* Finding the dupe threads on the forums by posting the link to the original topics.
* Being helpful by answering the problem encountered by other members.
* Having a decent behavior by being courteous (at least not mean) toward other members and staff.
* Not required but always welcome: having an technical expertise in one or several main subjects discussed on the forum (eg being an expert of DS flash carts, NDS emulation...)

In short are promotable people who show without saying it that they are capable of modding and know the job's requirements. People promoted to support staff or forum assistants are mostly filled with many negative warns, which are a proof of their helpfulness on the forum so that beginning by seeking for negative warns is a good start (see the warn FAQ for more details). Please note that support staff is more easy of access than forum assistant position, the latter being most of the time by current support staff.

Last word on promotion: NEVER ask for it or all your chances will be anihilated. We don't need to know who boasts the best but who actually do the best. In other words: "you don't ask us, we'll ask you".
