360 outsells PS3 in Japan 2.5-1While the Xbox 360 was outsold by the PS3 in our neck of the woods, Microsoft beat its corporate rival on their own home turf. The Xbox 360's popularity jumped this week hot off the heels of Namco Bandai's Tales of Vesperia, pushing 24,962 consoles out the door -- a 19,603 unit increase from the previous week.
In anticipation of the RPG's popularity, Microsoft created a limited edition bundle that added Tales of Vesperia and a slew of extras in with a standard Xbox 360 Premium (20GB) system exclusively in Japan -- the bundle is reportedly the most sought after package available in the region. Full sales chart for the week after the jump.
Nintendo DS - 60,434
PSP - 58,501
Wii - 38,506
Xbox 360 - 24,962
PlayStation 3 - 9,673
PlayStation 2 - 8,503

not really suprised that this has happened. MGS4 is losing its shine, although a nice game, but 360 is actually more geared towards their Japanese audience. Good job there microsoft. But DS is STILL PWNING lol man that thing prints money.

Finally the DS is outselling the PSP after like 3 months of the PSP dominating.
Anyway, the 360 will fall back. It's not like the Japanese will suddenly love it just because of one game.

Tales of Vesperia is a really good game. I never knew it even came out yet though :S.

Well apparently it's a loved franchise in Japan. But isn't like the PS3, Wii, PSP, and DS each getting their own exclusive Tales of Something game? I know about the DS, it's called like Tales of Nostalgia. Something like that.
