Death Note (デスノート, Desu Nōto?) is a Japanese manga series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. The series primarily centers around a high school student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it.

Light Yagami is an extremely intelligent young man who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life undergoes a drastic change in the year 2003, when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it is just a prank. However, after experimenting with it and killing two criminals, Light is forced to admit that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the new world" by passing his judgment on criminals.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word "Killer"), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

I don't know the anime in subs is pretty awesome....and deat you are slow it only took me about 4 days to catch up to D-gray man anime(64 episodes back then....another 4 days ot catch up to the manga..)so you really don't seem to be much into it>..>

I was really surprised when he died. A lot of people also complained that after his death, the series had gone downhill.

i didnt think a dub would be as good as yuyu hakusho, but deathnote dub is sweet.

Well yeah, but then after that the series kinda dragged on (I think). I preferred if the manga ended at Volume 7. If you read the manga then you will know what I'm talking about.

I only watched couple of sub episodes. Never bothered with dub anime ever since Naruto

Woooah slow down people, Yu YU Hakusho had the BEST dub EVER, if you watched all 112 eps like i did, then you would know.

I never finished the series and not planning on doing so.

I read the manga till L dies.

And really I feel this is the proper ending. After his death, I read like couple of chapters then I just gave up. However I do know the ending.

in almost all anime good guys win in the end.......although in this case the protagonist(usually the good guy..)dyed in the end end(since he was evil..)so many were disappointed......but to tell you the truth after L's death the series got better and it showed light in total control(I loved how sadistic mikami was...)although I was disappointed in Mello's death...

Yup in the end as you realize it/..this was just a detour for Ryuk's entertainment he loses nothing all he did was use the time with light to amuse himself which I find crudely humorous,..
