Atari Announces New DBZ Games!

Atari officially announced/confirmed in a press statement that both Shin Budokai 2 and Harukanaru Goku Densetsu will be releasing in the USA. According to the article, Harukanaru Goku Densetsu (which has been renamed to just "Harukanaru Densetsu"), is set to hit stores in Spring 2007, and Shin Budokai 2 sometime in March

"Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road is the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai, one of the best selling PSP(R) system games launched in 2006. The game takes the intense Wi-Fi multiplayer battles and thrilling combative gameplay made popular in last year's hit and adds an improved fighting system with over 50 new fighting skills and ultimate attacks and the power to play heroes and villains from the DBZ, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball worlds. In addition to these all-new features, Shin Budokai: Another Road will send players into a completely new story arc following the future world of Trunks on his adventures against rival Majin Buu. Developed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc. / Dimps, Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai: Another Road is slated to release in March 2007 for the PSP(R) system.

Dragon Ball Z Harukanaru Densetsu is an all new DBZ(R) experience unlike any other for the Nintendo DS. Harukanaru Densetsu combines strategic card based gameplay and role playing to deliver a game that is easy to understand but hard to master. Players' progression is determined through their use of the cards to evolve characters, strengthen moves and create new moves. Developed by NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc., Dragon Ball Z Harukanaru Densetsu will be available on Nintendo DS in Spring 2007."

Who is the Legendary Super Saiyan???

Who exactly is the "real" Legendary Super Saiyan? Many different viewpoints have been put across on this matter, and there are so many Super Saiyans that it is near impossible to determine who it is. I hope my views on this subject can finally put this question to rest.
The first person we see reach Super Saiyan is Goku during his long battle with Frieza. At this time it seemed very clear who the legendary Super Saiyan was and if Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragonball) had gotten his way to stop creating the DB, Goku would have definetly been the legend. However, he is not because as we all know the story did go on.

Next we see Vegeta become Super Saiyan so surely he must have been of what the legend speaks. His power was incredibly high when he finally completed the transformation and he has the royal bloodline. Vegeta also continues to train his ENTIRE life never giving up. However, he is not the legend and is just another Super Saiyan.

How about Future Trunks? He was an awesomely powerful half-Saiyan, and fought off the evil Android's when he was the only one left. Would this make him the legendary hero? Nope. Just like regular Trunks he pretty much gives up training/fighting and goes to work at Capsule Corp.

Now we come to Goten and Trunks. They become Super Saiyans younger than anyother characters with great power but, were only able to cause their fathers did. Because if you have already become SSJ and you have a child something in the Saiyan genes changes and it becomes much easier to become a Super Saiyan.

If Dragonball had ended after the fight with Cell Gohan would have definetly been the Legendary Super Saiyan. However, after he reaches SSJ2 he becomes Mystic which is a completly different thing that in no way can be called Super Saiyan, thus making it impossible for him to be the legend.

With all those warriors out of the equation, then it is all narrowed down to the final super Saiyan, the one believed by most to be the legend. His name is of course, Broly. He had strength far higher than anyone else's, and he was unsurpassable. He was destined to become a spectacular fighter with unimaginable strength, and perfectly carried out this prophecy. Even FUNimation considers Broly to be the legend. He isn't the legendary super Saiyan though.

Okay, so who the heck is? Well the real legendary super Saiyan was the one from way back that Vegeta talked about, and who only had the ability to maintain his power during a full moon. While his power wasn't as high as the other SSJ's, he was the first one known in history, and stories were told about him, passed down along the generations, thus making him a legend.

This may seem unexpected and you may even refuse to believe that someone who didn't feature in the series can be the legend. If that's the case then here's the other answer: There isn't one. Only one legendary super Saiyan has ever been born, and it wasn't Goku or his friends, but that nameless Oozaru with insane power.

Last Japanese Dragonball Z DVDs!!

TOEI Animation has just released the covers for the last four "Dragonball Z Individual Dragon Box Set DVDs"; Volumes 46, 47, 48, and 49 (and don't expect to see any re-releases like FUNimation --- this is it). Like always, the DVDs will have 6 episodes per volume and cost about $36 USD each.

These DVDs will cover episodes 268-291 of the Dragonball Z anime (with 291 being the last episode of the series), and are set to release in stores accross Japan Feb/07/2007. If you're looking to buy them we suggest either Amazon.co.jp (only cu

On top of that they are NTSC/Region 2 DVDs, which means you need a TV/DVD setup that can support NTSC/Region 2. Dragonball Z Collectable Card Game

Hints and Playing Tips:
Fun With Trunks card ----- This is quite the killer combo. Customize your deck to where you have one of each sword position for Trunks. When in the midst of battle, if you get Sword Position 1, play it (and it has to succeed). Then, use a card that lets you search your deck for a card. When you do find a Sword Position 2, use it (which also has to succeed). Then, search your deck again for Sword Position 3 and Sword Position 4 and use them. On your next turn you will notice you will have an extra card. This card is called "Fun With Trunks". This card does a whopping 25 damage and it raises your power level to its maximum. It also prevents all masteries from being used against you and stops the rest of the attacks made against you for the remainder of combat.
Frieza Smiles card ----- The Frieza Smiles card is a double-edged sword. When used as the first card in combat, it stops all Energy or all Physical attacks for the rest of the round, but this affects both you and your opponent.
Defeating Hints:
Goku ----- Use the following trick to defeat Goku on level 4. Goku goes for a personality win and sometimes that is very hard to counter. He has a red style Tokui-Waza that also gives him +2 extra anger. Choose Gohan as your fighter and go trough all the levels. Fight everyone at least eight to ten times. By the time you get to level 4, you should have Gohan Empowered, which is his fourth personality. Goku does not have a fourth personality -- he will get up to his third stage and remain at level 3 with 5 Anger for the entire match. He also has poor cards that do almost no damage.
Guldo ----- Select Gohan as you character. He gets a bonus of two power level gains in his round. Next, put all the Defense cards you have in the deck. It is crucial to stop Guldo's MP card. Then, with all remaining cards, put them into Anger cards. This should stop all of Guldo's attacks. Also, Gohan's second Personality stage makes it so his MP card defends against Guldo's attacks. If you only have one Defense card remaining, take the hits until Guldo uses himself, then block it. This may require two or three attempts. You can also use Freiza due to his power of cutting damage down by two Life cards.

Character Personalities:
Krillin ----- Orange Style Tokui-Waza
Piccolo ----- Nemakian Style Tokui-Waza
Nail ----- Nemakian Style Tokui-Waza
Vegeta ----- Saiyan Style Tokui-Waza
King Cold ----- Blue Style Tokui-Waza
Frieza ----- Black Style Tokui-Waza
Goku ----- Red Style Tokui-Waza
Cell ----- Cell has all the Tokui-Waza Styles
Vegeta's main personality ----- Defeat Cell using King Cold to unlock Vegeta's main personality.

Dragonball Z: Legacy Of Goku

Invincibility ----- During the intro movie press Up Down Left Right B A, if done right a sound effect will confirm your entry, then start a new game or continue a saved game and you will be invincible.
Here is a list of glitches:

Easy Boss Killing Secret ----- Fly away from the boss until he's about 1.5 - 2 screens away from Goku. You can keep shooting the boss with Ki Blasts from there and the boss won't move. You can find a place to shoot by firing Ki Blasts in the boss's direction and moving side to side until it makes the sound that it makes when you hit an enemy with a ki blast. Once you find the place where you hit the boss, stay there and keep firing Ki Blasts. It works because bosses don't move when you are a certain distance away from them. For some bosses, after you fire ki blasts for a long time, you might need to go up to the boss and punch him/her because there are some bosses where you need to be on the same screen as the boss.
Cheap Recovery Trick ----- If you are wandering around in an area and are low on health, you can try this (not-so-secret) trick to recover quickly. Save your game, then shut off the game and turn it back on again. When you appear back where you left off, you'll be back at full health/Ki without even using items!

The words/info Akira Toriyama

The words of Akira Toriyama

To be honest, I'm always struggling to come uo with something to write about here. If you're busy working on a weekly serial then there shouldn't be anything all that special happening in your life to write about. What's even more painful is coming up with the "what's happening this issue" promo text for the table of contents in weekly shonen jump magazine. This is a secret but more than half of the comments made on that page are actually written by my editor, Mr. Kondo. He always asks me, Did anything interesting happen this week? Nothing Really Did....
-Akira Toriyama, 1991

Info on Akira Toriyama

Artist/writer Akira Toriyama burst onto the manga scene in 1980 with the wildly popular Dr. Slump, a science fiction comedy about the adventures of a mad scientist and his android daughter.
