Gundam Seed/Destiny

For all the gundam fans out there, you can discuss about anything like favourite characters, villians, and alliances

My fave character is Kira Yamato
Fave villian: Patrick Zala, Ra le creuset
Fave alliances: ZAFT
rasengan232

My favorite battle Athrun vs Kira in gundam seed. Athrun is going crazy because kira killed his friend and fellow zaft member Nicol Amalfi and Kira is super pissed because athrun killed Tolle during the fight between kira and athrun

Anyways this is my favorite battle

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny (機動戦士ガンダムSEED DESTINY, Kidō Senshi Gundam SEED DESTINY?) is the second TV series set in the Cosmic Era universe of Gundam. Set two years after the original Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Gundam SEED Destiny features many new characters and some returning ones. The series spanned 50 episodes (plus a recap episode entitled "Edited"), aired in Japan from October 9, 2004 to October 1, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. on the JNN TV stations TBS and MBS.

Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, Gundam SEED Destiny is the sequel to Gundam SEED and the second Gundam series to be set in the Cosmic Era timeline. Set in C.E. 73, two years after the peace treaty between ZAFT and the Earth Alliance was signed in Gundam SEED, members of the Earth Alliance special task force known as "Phantom Pain" hi-jack three advanced mobile suits from a ZAFT armory base during a meeting between Orb representative Cagalli Yula Athha and new ZAFT chairman Gilbert Durandal. What begins as a pursuit of this band of Extended Naturals by Orb refugee Shinn Asuka, Alex Dino (Athrun Zala in disguise), Rey Za Burrel and the crew of the Minerva, escalates into cataclysmic circumstances which lead to the declaration of yet another war.

[edit] Themes and reactions
While still interested on the plight between Naturals/Extendeds and Coordinators, Destiny's focus was placed more on the ideological conflicts held by the characters, with social commentary proposing a global government conspiracy theory. In a wide scope, the series poses the question of what would be the best path for humanity to follow: one where people's paths are chosen, but they are able to live to their full potential, or that of freedom and the inevitable conflict that will occur?

Although a ratings success, Destiny could not match either the previous success of Gundam SEED or Fullmetal Alchemist, both of which previously aired on the popular Saturday evening prime-time slot.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Broadcast information
Gundam SEED Destiny had its premiere broadcast in Japan on October 9, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. on the JNN TV stations (TBS and MBS) and ended on October 1, 2005.

On Christmas 2005, a special episode ("Final Plus") called "The Chosen Future" aired in Japan. The episode is mainly a remake of the Final Phase (episode 50), with a few storyline changes, a lengthened battle, and an epilogue to the series.

Bandai Entertainment has announced that Gundam SEED Destiny is licensed for the North American market. It began its Canadian broadcast on YTV's Bionix programming block on March 9, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. There is no schedule date to broadcast the series in the U.S. at this time according to Bandai Entertainment, but the english-dubbed version had been released on DVD.

In the Philippines, the English-dubbed version first aired on Cartoon Network Philippines on June 1, 2006. On December 1, 2006 and February 17, 2007, Hero TV and ABS-CBN respectively aired the Filipino-dubbed version.

[edit] Adaptations
An abridged version of the TV series is being released as Gundam SEED Destiny: Special Edition, which retells the story in four 90 minute parts. Unlike the Gundam SEED: Special Edition, this retelling of Destiny seems focused on fixing some of the more criticized aspects of the series (for instance, by focusing on Athrun Zala's point of view to keep the focus as neutral as possible) rather than simply editing together highlights and important battles.

An ONA spinoff called Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer, has been released on Bandai Channel starting July 2006, with a DVD release scheduled for November 2006.

Most recently, a brand new movie was announced by Sunrise (news in English via Gunota Headlines).Little is known about the movie at this time but it will be a brand new story set after the series.

The anime has been adapted into a series of novels, by Goto Riu (also the author of the Gundam SEED novels).

The manga series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny: The Edge tells the events of the anime from the viewpoint of Athrun Zala, though, some events were changed.

According to the December 2006 edition of Newtype magazine, a non-sequitur comedy series based on the massively popular Yonkoma comic Gundam SEED Club is due to be released in April 2007. It will star the entire cast of the Gundam SEED saga (even those who were killed) as cuddly and adorable super deformed caricatures, enacting a madcap but endearing parody of a high school romance manga, set in "Saint Minerva" high school, a grounded Minerva vessel with a "Japanese school clock" in place of the bridge. The youths will be the students and the adults will be the teaching staff.

Zaraki Kenpachi

hey I also have a satelite dish but it depends where it broadcasts since I have arbic and english channels(including YTV and all those movie channels..)
Phatkav

That's it. I have decided to start watching Gundam Seed once I get far enough in one Piece manga.

Also this doesn't deserve to be sticky. So i just made it a normal topic.
bashmo

dammit watch BLEACH. lol kidding. I watched desitiny on friday, flash back.
Phatkav

I heard one of Gundam Seed opening songs. They were quite amazing.
bashmo

the song choices are good for GS. THey are mediocre for bleach, to be honest.
Falkien

Gundam Seed Destiny

you guys should check out the five minute OVA for gundam seed destiny on youtube after the final episode.

SPOILERS---Kira and other top pilots join ZAFT to unite peace i think he is ranked as a commander.

There is stuff before that but i don't want to ruin it!
Phatkav

What's with that Gundam 00 . Never bothered with it, but people have been saying it's one of the best Gundam series.
Zaraki Kenpachi

bashmo wrote:

bleach openings are awesome>.> and better than most GS openings the only thing that beats most of them is rurouni kenshin ending heart of sword(also used in final fantasy a bit..)
bashmo

chill jomaa. I the ULTIMATE bleach fan am being honest about the fact that GS openings are better than Bleach openings. Opening 6 and opening 2 are the best in bleach.
rasengan232

nooooo bleach discussion in this topic....... the series is almost finished.......kira got his new strike freedom and athrun got his infinite justice and are using them to fight shin's destiny and ray's legend....GREAT BATTLE
Zaraki Kenpachi

hmm the ending is already their it's a bit obvious what will happen lol.....although shin wasn't too bad..
rasengan232

kira is the strongest... and i personally like the gundam seed series
Zaraki Kenpachi

yup you must always keep in mind that Kira will eventually own everyone(he only lost like technically twice...well kind of once against Athrun and once against Shin....)
Deat401

kick [mod edit] show. second best anime after deathnote
bashmo

for real. I have to admit since bleach has started to suck recently, GS is the [mod edit].
rasengan232

All the gundam theme songs are toooooo ill ..... phase 47 friday the 29th MEER CAMBELL got killed and athrun is pissed...GUNDAM SEED ROCKS !
Deat401

i have to admit destiny has 1 amazing sound track. if only 00 had the same themes. i believe athrin pwns all pilottes. he can easily take  down shin, dont get me started about ray, probebly the only challenge he would have is kira. but even then athrin could beat him. btw the last fight that happened in destiny when kira destroyed athrin, was not a realf fight!!! athrin did not attack kira in seed mode nor with any effort. while kira was acting like a snob.
bashmo

fadi you and i both know gundam dynames owns any gundam from gundam 00! the sniper lazer pwns!!

sorry about that. Off topic O.o but seriously, GSD is almost done on ytv.
Zaraki Kenpachi

I agree with Deat Athrun pawns kira but I see many fanboys disagree coughDNGcough I mean he wins the first fight and in the second fight he was like mostly dodging...but then they became allies so no more fights between them,///
bashmo

athrun's a queer, and kira's sick. Athrun's a homo emo lol, jk, but i dont like athrun too much. My all time favourite character is Dearka cus hes cool. My fav gundam is the Akatsuki, and my fav alliance is ZAFT. Whos isnt, lol?
rasengan232

what do you me Bashir....Athrun is a solid character and i like his justice infinite....but lets be real... KIRA KICKS [mod edit]! STRAIGHT STRIKE FREEDOM ALL DAY!
Deat401

the series is dead after watching it twice it gets so boring
