MSI Wind blows away last OSX hurdle

REALTEK HAS finally released a driver which allows Apple's OSX to use the MSI Wind's factory-fitted Wifi card, although the company may not have intended to make such a move.

A thread on one of Realtek's forums, which tracks consumer emails, let slip that the company intended to release the driver called RTL8187SE, and at least one user was sent the officially unrleased driver as a result of an enquiry into its existence and availablity.

As is often the case with these things, the unintentionally-released widget has now gone forth and multiplied meaning that a large numbers of happy Wind breakers are now running OSX Leopard on their diminutive thigh warmers with full and unfettered access to wireless services without resorting to unhealthy hardware hackery-pokery.

Despite being dubious from a legal standpoint, and almost certainly turning your warranty into yet another piece of waste paper (not to mention making poor Steve Jobs cry salty tears of sorrow) we can fully understand the attraction of a neat little laptop running Apple's undoubtedly accomplished OS and all for less than $350.

But we wouldn't encourage such behaviour, of course.
