NAT 3 TO 2I don't know if anybody would understand how to do this but I need to set up Nat 2 instead of 3 I tried using DMZ and I switched the UPNP off and on.

My Problem
I was unable to play The Darkness Multiplayer feature because the NAT Type on my PS3 was 3 & to allow this gameplay I required a NAT Type of 2.
Internet Settings
The first thing required is to change your internet connection settings on your PS3 to a custom configuration and apply a static IP address to your PS3. Enabling UPnP on your Ps3 may result in changing your NAT Type 3 to 2 as long as your wireless modem router auto adjusts and recognises the settings.
Network Settings
In order to change the NAT Types we must configure Port Forwarding on the modem router. In order to get into your router [Netgear, Linksys etc..] you need to open up internet explorer and type in the ip address of your router. Most likely it is either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1. If you click on Port Forwarding you may be prompted for a username and password [The username is most likely admin and the password if you haven't changed it may also be 'admin' else it could be 'password'].
Port Forwarding
Configure Port forwarding on the following ports:
[1] Choose a service name
[2] Select the Service Type TCP or UDP
[3] Starting Port
[4] Ending Port [Same as starting]
[5] Server IP address [This is the IP address of the PS3]
[6] Repeat steps 1 to 5 for each port configuration
TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658
For example:
Service Name = TCP_PS3_80
Start Port = 80
End Port = 80
Server IP Address = 192.168.1.6
Service Name = UDP_PS3_3478-9
Start Port = 3478
End Port = 3479
Server IP Address = 192.168.1.6
NAT Type 2
If you now go to the Internet Connection Test tab under Network Settings in the PS3 XMB menu It should test your connectivity and to confirm should now display your NAT Type as NAT Type 2. The other way is to look at the connection summary which will also display NAT Type: 2 as it did for me.
Result
The Darkness Multiplayer is now working for me and I should have no problems with any future games requiring this configuration.
DMZ host
Please do not use this method as it is unsecure as defined below, only use as a last resort if you still cannot play your games following the method above.
Some home routers refer to a DMZ host. A home router DMZ host is a host on the internal network that has all ports exposed, except those ports forwarded otherwise.
By definition this is not a true DMZ, since it provides no security between the host and the internal network. That is, the DMZ host is able to connect to hosts on the internal network, but hosts in a real DMZ are prevented from doing so by the firewall that sits between them.

Does you router support uPNP? If yes, just enable it and everything all be setup for you.
If not. You have to get into the router as an administrator and set up the Network Translation Table (NAT) to accept UDP port 3658 for incoming traffic and forward that traffic to the IP address of your PS3. (so the outside world / Sony server can see your PS3). The only problem is the IP of your PS3 will likely to change every time you turn on your PS3, and you will have to go through the same configuration again.
A permanet solution is to use something called "static IP address" and is a little more complicated to setup.

Yes mine supports uPNP. Universal Plug and Play in other words. I still don't understand the issue. Maybe this is more suitable for the official Sony PS3 forums.

I have no idea how to forward ports.. and some users also have D-link but there port forwarding setup is totally different

OK! I understand now...I really do need your model number. I have a hunch to whats wrong. You gotta forward ports that the PS3 uses. I will check what those ports are.
