Update: Sticker Power-ups

A new aspect of Sticker collecting was revealed today, as it turns out the little stickable pieces of artwork are more than just something to look at. Associated with each Sticker is a stat-boosting bonus, which can be applied to the playable fighter of your choice. For example, the Sticker of Katrina from Animal Crossing: Wild World offers a supplement of +13 to the Magic attack of a fighter. If you applied Katrina's sticker to Zelda, then, moves like her Din's Fire (since it's a Magic-based attack) would get a bonus in how much damage they dealt.

The bonuses are only applicable in the Subspace Emissary mode, though, so no trying to soup up your main before taking on your friends in standard multiplayer Brawls.

Update: Captain Olimar's Final Smash

Yesterday, we learned that Captain Olimar's Final Smash is called "End of Day." And today, we got the details of just what the attack does. When Olimar grabs a Smash Ball, it allows him to summon his spaceship to land on the battlefield. Then he can jump inside it and blast off, while the sun sets on the current stage and leaves all the other fighters stranded below. Those left behind will take a massive beating from unseen enemies, helpless to do anything to prevent it. Then Olimar will deliver the final blow, crashlanding his ship back into the active arena with a massive explosion. It should be a lot of fun to see this attack in action, especially on Olimar's home stage – those Bulborbs are hungry, you know.

Update: Sheik, Character Move Lists

Rest easy, ninja fans. The stealth Sheikah assassin is back. After over four months, the Smash Bros. Dojo has finally confirmed the return of another Veteran fighter, and it's Sheik. The last new "reconfirmation" we got was way back on September 14 when the Ice Climbers were revealed, so it's nice to finally be seeing an old friend again featured on the site.

But what's this? This isn't the Sheik we remember, exactly. This version of Zelda's transformed form has been updated to be more consistent with the graphical style of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's a little odd, since the Zelda in that game never transformed into Sheik throughout that adventure. But it's consistent now for Brawl, as Sheik is once again serving as the Down + B transformation for the Hyrulian princess.

A more subtle update also appeared on the SmashBros.com site today, in the form of Special Move lists appended to each character's profile page. Through that, we have a bit of new info too – for example, Bowser's been confirmed to have a new Side + B Special, called the Flying Slam. It replaces the Claw technique he had in Melee, and should serve to make him more mobile on the battlefield.

Captain Olimar's Final Smash is called "End of Day," according to the site, and so should involve the setting of the sun and a swarm of hungry enemy characters from the Pikmin series flooding the screen. And Zero Suit Samus' Down + B is called Flip Jump. We'd previously thought it was just another version of her Paralyzer gun attack, but we were wrong. Apologies.

Check out Sheik's updated look in the screenshots below, and stay tuned – it looks like the daily updates are hitting a hot streak.

Update: Distant Planet, and Release Date Delay

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was originally announced as a launch title for the Nintendo Revolution, to be available in 2006. Then, it was pushed back and positioned as a second holiday season hit, for 2007, for the renamed Nintendo Wii. Then it was delayed again, into this year, falling to a release date of February 10, 2008.

So what's one more month? Brawl has, for the fourth time, been given a new, later release date. This time it's March 9, roughly two months from now, and we can only hope and pray that that's the date that finally holds up and becomes a reality.

In the meantime, it appears that daily updates of the Smash Bros. Dojo will continue without delay, and today's was a look at the much-requested Pikmin stage. As expected, the home stage for Captain Olimar renders each fighter at miniscule size. The plants are oversized, the raindrops are heavy and fat, and the enemy Bulborbs that appear, hungry, can take a major bite out of your life total if you're not careful. You'll also be able to grab the numbered Pellets from the Pikmin series and transform them into useful items by tossing them into nearby Pikmin Onions – a useful trick. Should be a great stage to play, and it's a perfect implementation of what the fans had hoped a Pikmin stage would be like.

Update: Challenges Mode

Need a little help figuring out how to unlock all of Brawl's many secret trophies, stickers, CDs and playable characters? Challenges Mode is for you – an interface of clues that will help point you in the right direction for how to unlock different rewards, without spoiling everything for you outright. A similar interface was used in Kirby Air Ride for the GameCube, but Brawl's "Smash the Window" implementation seems more useful, because when a window breaks open it will also reveal the clues immediately adjacent to it as well.

Update: Captain Olimar's Special Moves

Well, we didn't have to wait long. Captain Olimar of the Pikmin series was confirmed as a playable character just two days ago, and now we're already getting a detailed look at his Special Moves. All of them involve his faithful followers, the Pikmin, as expected.

Olimar's Standard Special Move is his Pluck, which adds one more Pikmin to his current group. He can Pluck up a new Pikmin fighter anytime he's standing on solid ground, and can have a maximum of six of the little guys accompanying him at any one time. Each of the five varieties of Pikmin maintain the distinctiveness they exhibited in the GameCube Pikmin games, meaning that Reds are still resistant to Fire Attacks, Whites are still poisonous and the like.

Olimar's Side Special is his Pikmin Toss, which will take the first Pikmin walking in line behind him and fling it forward toward the nearest foe. If the creature makes contact, it will latch on and begin a continuous pounding – again, just like in the Pikmin games.

The Captain's Up + B Recovery move is probably the most unexpected technique, as it's a tether recovery using all of Olimar's currently active Pikmin. The little guys form a Pikmin Chain to connect the Captain back to the nearest platform. The downside to this is that if you don't have the maximum of 6 Pikmin with you when you use this move, you won't be able to recover from as far away as possible. One or two Pikmin alone don't make for a very long recovery chain.

Finally, Olimar's Whistle comes into play as his Down + B, which serves to reunite all in-play Pikmin together around him in a line, to regroup and refocus. Overall, Olimar looks like an amazingly unique character that should be a blast to play. His moveset is very faithful to his originating series, and he'll be a great addition to the Brawl.
