XBOX 360 Sales SoarSales more than doubled since cut, claims MS
360 sales have more than doubled in Europe since the price cut, a rather gleeful Microsoft has announced.
According to Microsoft, sales have more than doubled in the EMEA region (which is what manager types collectively call Europe, the Middle East and Africa) since last month’s price drop.
According to the company, the price cut has helped the 360 in “solidifying its leadership position as the number one next-generation console in Europe and significantly broadening the console’s audience.”
All this means that – according to Microsoft, anyway – the 360 now holds 42 per cent of the market (based on life-to-date revenue), and a game attach rate of 7.0 games sold per console. And considering the attachment rate for the Wii and PS3 are 3.5 and 3.8 games respectively, that’s rather impressive.
Microsoft’s vice president of Interactive Entertainment Europe, Chris Lewis, also added his thoughts on the matter.
“Xbox 360 is truly the next-generation console of choice among consumers, and today’s numbers are proof that we are delivering on our commitment to achieve critical mass in Europe,” a rather chuffed Lewis said.
“The highly competitive ERP [Estimated Retail Price], coupled with entertainment content that’s appealing to everyone in the home, makes Xbox 360 the ultimate high-definition entertainment choice, and it’s clear that we’re already seeing this resonate with consumers.”
And if you’ve still yet to get a 360, you can pick up an Arcade spec console for GBP 159.99, a Pro model (complete with 20GB hard drive) for GBP 199.99 or a top-of-the-range Elite for GBP 259.99.
